Creative Sask Grant Application Explainer Videos

Creative Saskatchewan is an economic development organization in Saskatchewan. They provide programs and funding to creative entrepreneurs and creative industries to help strengthen and diversify Saskatchewan’s economy.

The Challenge

Applying for a grant can be overwhelming. There are guidelines to read, requirements to meet, and details that can’t be missed. But the fine print is often overlooked.

For Creative Saskatchewan, that meant time spent answering avoidable questions and reviewing applications full of common, preventable mistakes. They saw an opportunity to make things clearer and easier for applicants, while also easing the strain on their team.

They came to us looking for two social videos to help guide applicants in the right direction. The challenge was fitting a lot of important information into something people would actually watch.

The Thinking

We knew right away that this wasn’t about covering everything. If the videos tried to say too much, they would be ignored. Like the fine print all over again.

Instead, we focused on the key points that would make the biggest difference in application quality. The things that are most often missed. The details that cause delays. The simple steps that could save both applicants and staff time.

From there, it became about attention. On social, you don’t get much time to earn it. We needed to hook viewers in the first few seconds and keep things moving at a steady pace.

We scripted concise voiceovers for each video, making sure the language was clear, direct, and easy to follow. Then we storyboarded the visuals to support and reinforce each point, ensuring the message would land.

Every decision, from scripting to visuals, was made with holding attention in mind, without compromising clarity or quality.

The Result

Creative Saskatchewan loved the videos and put them to use right away.

Both videos are now pinned to the top of the Creative Saskatchewan Instagram account and are being used across YouTube, Instagram, and Facebook, meeting applicants where they already are.

More importantly, they’ve created a simple, accessible way for applicants to better understand the process before they apply.

This project wasn’t about adding more information. It was about making the right information easier to find, easier to understand, and harder to miss.
